The Conference on Arbitration

The Conference on Arbitration will be held in Reykjavik Iceland, September 7 - 8. Registration opens in April. The conference will offer insights into implications and practices of arbitration from jurisdiction, conduct and enforcement. Furthermore a subsequent workshop will offer basic training both for experienced practitioners and younger professionals.

BLOCK 1 - Jurisdiction and Arbitration Agreements

  • General introduction: Principles of arbitration as alternative to court proceedings and the importance of arbitration in cross border disputes and for international trade contracts
  • Basic elements of the Arbitration agreement
  • Different types of aribtration: Permanent arbitral institutions and ad hoc arbitration
