Economic growth policy in Asia - Lessons for Iceland

How can strategic cooperation between private industries and the government serve as a key success factor for the development of new industries? That is amongst topics that will be addressed at a breakfast meeting held in cooperation between Iceland Chamber of Commerce, Embassy of Japan in Iceland, University of Reykjavík and Japanese Studies at the University of Iceland.

Meeting moderator: Ari Kristinn Jónsson, Rector of Reykjavík University

Keynote speaker: Prof. Seiichiro Yonekura, Director of Institute of Innovation Research at Hitotsubashi University Tokyo. His lecture will be on “Development of national industrial policies in Asian economies” where he will use samples from case studies on Asian economic growth models.

About Dr. Yonekura:
Seiichiro Yonekura is a Director and Professor of Institute of Innovation Research, Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo. He received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in the United States. Dr. Yonekura has been Dean of Mori Ark Academy Hills for lifetime education in Roppongi-hills since 2001. He has also served as Co-president of Institute of Strategy at Sony Corporation to supervise Sony’s long-term business and organizational strategy. He has been a chief editor of Hitotsubashi Business Review since 1994.
